Dr. Steve Deitelbaum

Treating both individuals and couples, Dr. Deitelbaum has been in private practice in West Los Angeles for over 30 years.

From 1991 through 2005, he was on faculty at the Santa Monica UCLA Family Practice Residency Program. As a member of the Behavioral Science staff, he developed curricula and trained medical residents on how to assess and attend to their patients’ psychological well-being, in addition to providing psychotherapy to patients.

A member of the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and a Training and Supervising Analyst, Dr. Deitelbaum also serves on the Ethics Committee. Along with his fellow members, he created the Institute's current Code of Ethics. He began his psychoanalytic training at The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in 2013.

Dr. Deitelbaum is a Relational Psychoanalyst with a specific interest in Early Attachment Trauma and Chronic Shame.

He is a member of a professional study group concerned with treating the Sequelae of Early Developmental Trauma in Adults which includes a focus on Relational Trauma, Attachment and Neuroscience. Dr. Deitelbaum is also a member of several other ongoing study and clinical consultation groups.
